The Beginning
GPCI started of as an alt-guild, founed by Vindicare (Brawl) and Remi on the Burning-Blade server. Both going seperate ways; Remi joined Laughing Skull and together with Kvaaly he created the very first guild on the server. On the 9th of Septembre, Gnome Pest Control Inc was born! While racking up members in the race to level 60 GPCI was very picky about the behaviour of the members. One of the key elements that made the guild what it is today, if you can’t behave or be a fair player then you wont find yourself being in the guild for long. The days of end-game were closing in…
The long Run
Gnome Pest Control Inc was together with “Almost Famous” and “Unholy” the leading guilds concerning PvE, all 3 racing to get those first kills. We started ZG and MC and quickly cleared off these instances, moving on to BWL. It was at this time Remi and Kvaaly decided to reroll, handing over the management to Sly (Masipa) and putting Shadowrider (Akratis), Holydead, Sraka, Onepint and Vindicare (Brawl) as new officers. Dark times came over GPCI, having members getting greedy, flaming, whining and the whole schmich. But the officers, hard-working as they still are, got rid of this pest to keep our reputation as friendly, caring guild alive.
Darker Times
Several of the core-members concluded WoW was taking over their lives, and decided to quit WoW, some even sold their characters to make sure they’d never come back. Sly (Masipa) for example, our guildluider passed the flag on to Vindicare (Brawl) who had a rough time keeping the guild together but managed quite nicely and still does to this day forward.
Fresh Blood
Several high-end game raids fell apart, and most of them wanted to join GPCI resulting in a large recruitment spree. With a good management and common sense the glorious days were soon recovered and we continued slaying bosses, climbing higher on the PvE-ladder. Word spread and many of the old players re-activated their accounts, transfered server once more or re-rolled character to play side by side with the GPCI’s elite once more.
The Big Merge
GPCI sqaushed the AQ20 bugs and AQ40 was not prepared for us aswell, yet the only boss we failed to have him kneel before us was C’thun. And Unholy was suffering from a similiar problem at Twins. Both guilds felt they could not progress any longer with these new bosses since they require a synced guild, they require a full raid whose on the top of their game in order to beat these encounters. And this was something hard to achieve with the constant flow of new members. (Veteran members tend to leave when progress halts – that’s the way of PvE.) So instead of consuming all our time and energy on the long interviews of new applicants GPCI decided to merge with Unholy, bringing the most active core of both guilds together. Hence forth we were known as Focus. This was quite a hard decision for the officers to make, as they felt very bad for all the good people they left behind that LOVED GPCI.
Hardcore
6 days a week we set on to finish all Azerothian instances, the spare time was used to farm materials for potions and the like. What we built in GPCI was a succesfull guild with a wonderful atmosphere, something that we lacked in the newly formed Focus. Though there was a nice amount of good-hearted and friendly people in Focus, there was a nice amount of pricks as well. After months, raiding became a full time job. We were rushing ourselves to home to be able to make it on time to raid. Farming herbs for DPS potions early in the morning before we went to work. All these factors resulted in a huge split, mainly old GPCI and a few new Focus members decided to go back to GPCI, to repair our home.
